Former LSU Tigers cornerback Derek Stingley Jr had quite a morning at the second day of Houston Texans training camp.

Stingley, the No. 3 overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, was in the middle of plenty of action on Wednesday.

The former LSU standout started things off by picking off a pass intended for wide receiver Tank Dell, a breakout star from last season.

Later, Stingley was involved in a scuffle that centered around wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Diggs was hit by defensive back Jimmie Ward, which led to tight end Dalton Schultz getting involved. According to reports from training camp, Stingley then pushed Schultz to the ground.

Texans cornerbacks coach Dino Vasso didn't seem to have a problem with the altercation, telling reporters that Stingley is a "competitive kid".

"He's a competitive kid, he relishes the one-on-one moments, said Vasso of Stingley. "And I think that's the biggest thing for a corner. You can't teach that as a coach. And he has that inherently, so it's a good trait."

The competitive juices are certainly flowing early in training camp. But that's a good thing for Stingley and the Texans. As they say, iron sharpens iron.
