On Wednesday, EA Sports released its top 100 players in the highly anticipated video game College Football 25. Ole Miss had three players land named to the list in defensive tackle Walter Nolen, quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Tre Harris.
Dart received a 90 overall rating which is good for No. 73 overall and the No. 6 slot amongst the nation's top quarterbacks.
Only eight quarterbacks in the country cracked College Football 25's top 100 list. In front of Dart are Shadeur Sanders (No. 17), Carson Beck (No. 18), Quinn Ewers (No. 27), Dillon Gabriel (No. 30) and Jalen Milroe (No. 71). Jalon Daniels of Kansas (No. 79) and Liberty's Kaidon Salter (No. 90) round out the list of signal callers.
Rebels fans shouldn't be too upset with Dart's ranking as the nation's sixth-ranked quarterback is certainly nothing to sneeze at. With that being said, there is absolutely an argument to be made that Dart, and the other four quarterbacks ranked ahead of him, should come before Colorado's Sanders. After all, this is a quarterback who led his team to a 4-8 record and a 1-8 mark in the Pac-12 just a season ago.
Perhaps this is exactly the debate EA Sports was trying to create when releasing these rankings. Creating conversations and farming engagement are both good for the company's bottom line. That being said, it's still disappointing considering the game is still going to fly off of the shelves regardless of the player ratings.
The good news is that the game will constantly be adjusting player and team ratings once the season begins. So if Dart lights the SEC on fire then he will surely climb even higher on the list, as will the Rebels who check in as the No. 15 team in the country with an overall rating of 87.
