Heading into the 2024 college football season many fan bases have a greater sense of hope and possibility thanks to the advent of the 12-team playoff era. Several more teams should have a much better shot at making it to the College Football Playoff. But according to oddsmakers that likely won't matter in the end when and if any team faces off against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Yes indeed, the Georgia Bulldogs are favored to win it all for the third time in just four seasons. But that's not nearly the most shocking part about Vegas odds and win totals this year. What's hard to believe is just how many points they would be favored by compared to any other FBS football team.

Vegas Odds Favor Georgia Bulldogs

One of the best College Football data minds out there, Joshua "Bud" Davis, used Vegas win totals and schedules to create a power rating for every FBS team this week. Using all objective data available he created a point spread against the "FBS average" football team on a neutral field for all 134 schools. The results can be seen in his "CFB Market-Derived Team Tiers" post featured below.

While it's no surprise to see Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, and Oregon at the top, it's likely a bit shocking for many to realize that the Bulldogs are over a full field goal favorite against any and every single FBS football team in the nation on a neutral field. Not only that, but they're also a full touchdown favorite over all but 4 teams. More than two touchdown favorites against all but 14 teams in all of college football!

There may be some sticker shock with that reality, but it really isn't that surprising at all. Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have just about everything going for them once again.

Georgia brings back their starting quarterback Carson Beck who is among the top few favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this season. They return nearly 70% of last year's production according to Bill Connelly's SP+ and a handful of other leading data sources (70% of a team that went 13-1 last year). Kirby Smart and his excellent group of recruiters have brought in top three recruiting classes every year since 2017, so their roster is stacked to the brim with blue chip talent.

Georgia simply has every single thing going for them this season. They're favored in all of their games, including their toughest matchup at Texas this fall. Can anyone actually beat Georgia? It may be difficult to do, but given how good this roster is, there's a very real possibility that Georgia goes completely undefeated all the way through the 12-team playoff field, ultimately winning a national championship yet again.
