The Atlanta Falcons made an interesting signing on Monday.
According to the 33rd Team's Ari Meirov, the Falcons are adding veteran cornerback Kevin King to their secondary.
King, 28, was originally a second-round draft pick out of Washington by the Green Bay Packers in 2017.
He played five seasons in Green Bay before stepping away from football in 2022 for personal reasons. King hoped to make a comeback in 2023 until he tore his Achilles last spring.
Through 51 games with 42 starts for the Packers, King made 197 total tackles, seven interceptions, three quarterback hits, 30 passes defensed, one sack, two forced fumbles, and two fumbles.
King's return to the NFL with Atlanta doesn't come as too much of a surprise since he has past ties with the Falcons' current coaching staff, including new defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake.
Lake coached King in college for three seasons before he declared for the NFL draft.
King joins a cornerback room that consists of A.J. Terrell, Dee Alford, Clark Phillips III, Mike Hughes, and recently signed Antonio Hamilton.
