Less than a week ago top tier four star wide receiver Talyn Taylor absolutely dominated the OT7 Flag Football Championships. That fact wasn't super surprising given that Taylor has been a top 100 consensus recruit for quite sometime. However, it is a bit surprising that Taylor followed that performance up by immediately committing to Georgia.
Throughout the weekend, and immediately after buzz kept rising around Taylor as he kept making play after play. Surely he could have used his dominance against some of the best competition in the nation to leverage interest from even more schools, right? And Notre Dame and Ohio State were firmly in it for his recruitment right? Not so, apparently.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, Talyn Taylor committed to Georgia on Tuesday night, choosing them over Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan.
Taylor had visited both Notre Dame and Ohio state within the last month or two and many around both programs believed they were firmly in the running for the fringe five star talent. However, Taylor had been considered a strong Georgia lean for quite some time. He had just taken an official visit with the Bulldogs to end the month of May after seeing them multiple times this spring already.
Taylor's skill set had been highly sought after for quite some time, but the Bulldogs had been surging, pushing to get him for several months knowing just how special he could be. If you want to get a glimpse into just how special he can be simply check out some of his OT7 highlights in Rivals' post below. One-handed snags, leaping grabs, amazing adjustments to the ball, and more.
Taylor's highlights are riddled with unbelievable catches thanks to his strong hands and amazing body control. And when you add in his top tier verified track speed you get a wide receiver who should be ready to plug and play for Georgia in 2025.
Top WR recruit dominates national competition fresh off his visit with Georgia football
One top wideout recruit more than made the most of his opportunity after visiting with Georgia football.
Taylor will join a stacked Georgia recruiting class that already ranks top five, has two five stars, double-digit blue chips, and is on track to push for the top overall spot next spring. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs had already gotten commits from top tight ends, a quarterback, and one strong running back, but Taylor will now be the premier wide receiver talent of the class for Georgia.
Taylor should plug in well next spring as the Bulldogs will likely be installing a new quarterback, building with a much younger core (albeit with elite talent and pedigree). Taylor will be crucial to the continued offensive success in Athens.
