Latest betting odds reveal who Michigan fans should expect at quarterback when the Wolverines kick off the 2025 CFB season
Betting odds pain the picture for the Michigan QB battle
Head coach Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines are in the midst of a heated quarterback battle. Five-star true freshman Bryce Underwood is trying to come in and make an instant impact in Ann Arbor. He is battling it out with veterans Mikey Keene, Jake Garcia, and Jadyn Davis for the starting nod.
In the latest betting odds from SportsBetting.ag, they paint an interesting picture about where this battle currently stands. Underwood has the best odds as of today, sitting at -500. For those who don’t bet much, that is a massive favorite. Following Underwood are Keene (+300), Garcia (+800), and Davis (+1500). Those odds don’t paint the picture about what the program was hoping for, ideally anyway.
The original plan before the offseason began was for Keene, who transferred from Fresno State this offseason, to begin the year as the starter. There is no questioning that Underwood is the future of the program, but there also was a hope to bring him along slowly. That plan has shifted recently with Keene being banged up for most of the offseason.
If Keene was healthy the entire offseason, it’s possible that original plan stayed intact. While the graduate student has been out, the 6-4, 214-pound true freshman has continued to impress. Underwood will undoubtedly take his lumps, but you are also going to see some elite moments in 2025.
Underwood was originally committed to the LSU Tigers in the 2025 recruiting class. A big financial backing allowed the Wolverines to convince the talented passer to stay in the state of Michigan. The program has been searching for the future of the quarterback position, and that’s exactly what Underwood is.
The Belleville (Mich.) High School product was considered to be the top overall player by every major recruiting platform for the 2025 recruiting class. During his senior season, Underwood managed to throw for 2,509 yards, a 71.9 completion rate, and 32 touchdown passes. Underwood also rushed for over 600 yards and six more scores on the ground. He threw a total of 152 touchdown passes over four seasons.
Outside of LSU and Michigan, a long list of impressive suitors pursued Underwood. Some of the top programs that offered him include Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, Oregon, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Penn State, Miami, Florida, Auburn, and Florida State among many others.

Every single year there are some phenomenal freshmen stars that breakout, showcasing their incredible talents from the start.
