Georgia misses opportunity to take pole position with 2026 recruiting class after five-star chooses former champion
Kirby Smart misses again.
Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs swung hard and missed out on landing the top-ranked running back from the class of 2026.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, five-star running back Savion Hiter from Louisa County High School in Mineral, Virginia, has committed to the Michigan Wolverines over the Bulldogs.
“Michigan is a great place,” Hiter said during his recruiting process, via 247Sports. “Their college town is very nice. Everybody treats me like I am one of their actual players. The running back coach for Michigan came from Ohio State, so I’ve had a bond with him since Ohio State.”
At five-foot-11 and 200 pounds, Hiter is ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect at his position and in the state of Virginia. He is also the No. 21 overall prospect in the class of 2026. Hiter finished his 2024 junior season rushing for 1,060 yards on 150 carries, averaging 117 yards per game.
Georgia’s lone running back commit for the 2026 is four‑star Jae Lamar.
