Minnesota Vikings announce jersey number changes
On the surface, number changes aren’t crazy. That can be when it comes to fans buying jerseys of their favorite players. For others, the jerseys will be bought mostly by family and friends. In the case of Wentz, his jersey will sell like crazy in Fargo, North Dakota, as he graduated from NDSU.
The biggest one is Thielen getting his number 19 back. It was inevitable that Thielen would wear his old number since wide receiver Dontae Fleming wore 19 during the preseason. He is on the practice squad and will have his number changed.
Fans can pull out their 19 jerseys and wear them throughout the season. It will be huge for fans who want to get themselves a new jersey because they know he will have his old number.
The switch for Hargrave was likely to accommodate Richter wanting 98 back; Hargrave wore 97 with the Philadelphia Eagles for part of his tenure there. It’s not much different than 98, but 97 is a clean number for a defensive tackle.
