Despite having a two-win season last year, Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell has actually done better in recruiting after that season than he did before it when they went 13-0. This 2025 class we are seeing on the field is great. The 2026 class is coming along amazingly, as they currently sit in the top 15. Now, they’re close to landing an elite 2027 player in Gregory Batson, and it’s all because of their big win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Seminoles are being predicted to land No. 9 LB Gregory Batson

The Seminoles beat Alabama badly. In fact, it was never really close. They were the more dominant team in every aspect of the game, and certainly did not look like a team that had won just two games the year prior. That win did a lot for the fan base and the football program. It got their confidence where it needs to be. And, it’s also probably what is about to get them the No. 9 linebacker in the 2027 class, as Steve Wiltfong predicted so recently.

“The atmosphere was electric and the game plans on both sides of the ball were executed well,” Batson told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong. “Coach White’s defensive scheme stood out to me the most, and the way they made plays. I think coach Norvell and the Seminoles are in for a successful season, and the sky is the limit. I’m gonna be straight up. They’re my leaders right now, and it’s going to take quite a bit for me to change my mind.”

Wiltfong’s confidence level is at 60% on this prediction, and it’s possible we won’t know which school Batson picks for a while. A ton of schools are still cleaning up their 2026 class, so the 2027 recruits aren’t just committing to schools left and right just yet.

Batson is a 6’1″ linebacker from Georgia, who would be picking the Seminoles over schools like the Georgia Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels, and the Florida Gators.
