The LSU Tigers have kicked off the 2025 season with a flawless 3-0 record, marking their strongest opening since the championship-winning 2019 campaign. Under head coach Brian Kelly, the team has captured national attention with impressive victories over ACC powerhouse Clemson and SEC rival Florida, building significant momentum both on the field and in the recruiting arena.
This surge has translated to key wins on the trail, including a major commitment from four-star quarterback Peyton Houston out of Evangel Christian in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ranked as the No. 8 QB in the 2027 class, Houston pledged to LSU on Monday, September 15, 2025, following a visit to Baton Rouge for the Tigers’ dominant Week 3 win over Florida.
He was joined by several high-priority prospects from the 2026 and 2027 cycles, underscoring LSU’s aggressive approach to building future rosters. The staff isn’t slowing down, continuing to chase talents like Jase Mathews and Easton Royal while keeping a close eye on other elite options.
One such target is Ethan “Boobie” Feaster, a dynamic four-star wide receiver from DeSoto High School in Texas.
LSU Still Trying to Land Boobie Feaster After USC Commitment
Standing at 6-foot-0.5 and 175 pounds, Feaster is a top-25 overall prospect in the 2026 class and ranks as the No. 6 receiver nationally, known for his explosive speed, route-running precision, and ability to separate from defenders. Originally in the 2027 class, where he was pegged as the top wideout, Feaster reclassified to 2026 in February 2025 after consultations with coaches, including LSU’s wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton, who had been recruiting him since his eighth-grade days.
This move accelerated his timeline, allowing him to capitalize on earlier college opportunities, though he’s navigated the modern recruiting landscape with an agent and potential NIL deals on the horizon—staying in Texas despite the option to relocate to states like Louisiana, where high school athletes can monetize sooner.
“I love the staff at LSU,” Feaster said. “A lot of the staff is from Louisiana, they are not looking to leave and that is important. Coaches are leaving a lot now for the NFL, so I look at what staff is expected to be there and stay there.”
Feaster committed to the USC Trojans on July 4, 2025, choosing them over finalists including LSU, Alabama, and Texas A&M after a competitive process that saw him field over 25 scholarship offers from programs like Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, and Oklahoma. LSU made a strong push, hosting Feaster for an official visit on June 20, 2025, and leveraging Hankton’s long-standing relationship with the prospect. His standout performance at LSU’s Elite Camp in June 2023 further solidified their interest, where he dominated drills and emerged as one of the most coveted talents in his original class.
Even with his verbal pledge to USC under head coach Lincoln Riley, LSU hasn’t backed off. Feaster shares a years-long connection with Houston, fueling social media speculation about a potential flip to pair the duo in Baton Rouge. However, on Tuesday, September 16, Feaster shut down those rumors with a firm reaffirmation of his commitment to the Trojans, while extending congratulations to Houston on his LSU decision.
Despite this, the Tigers’ staff continues to monitor the situation closely, viewing Feaster as a game-changing addition who could elevate their offense with his elite playmaking skills. As recruiting battles heat up, LSU’s persistent efforts highlight its determination to assemble a powerhouse class.
