Georgia HC Kirby Smart reacts to Gunner Stockton’s Heisman buzz
Gunner Stockton is well in the Heisman race heading into Week 12.
Quarterback Gunner Stockton went from having college football analysts doubt him during the offseason to being in the Heisman talk after leading the Georgia Bulldogs to an 8-1 record so far.
Since the start of the 2025 College Football season, Stockton has impressed each week and wrapped up Saturday’s dominate 41-21 win over Mississippi State completing 18 of 29 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for another 31 yards.
Through nine games, Stockton has racked up 1,776 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also has 290 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
Does Kirby Smart believe Gunner Stockton is Heisman material?
While Stockton has been playing well for the Dawgs, head coach Kirby Smart doesn’t want to think about his QB1 winning a Heisman trophy right now.
Smart also wants to emphasize that Stockton wouldn’t be as good as he is without the support around him.
“The last thing I’m worried about is the Heisman, and I think the last thing he’s worried about is the Heisman,” Smart said. “Gunner’s been awesome for our team. He’s a selfless player. He’s a winner. He cares about his team. He makes great decisions. I think that’s a decision for somebody else. I don’t get into; I’ve never come out and said something like that with our guys. He’s certainly a great player with great players around him.”
Heading into Week 12 of the 2025 College Football season, Stockton has the sixth-best Heisman odds at +3000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
