It churns along. The Lane Kiffin saga, or rather the latest version of it, has taken more turns in the last 48 hours than your favorite soap opera of the late 1990’s. In any case, reports indicate that he intends to leave Ole Miss to become the next head coach at LSU. Amid the move, he was hoping to still coach the Rebels in the College Football Playoff, then head to Baton Rouge.

Ole Miss officials don’t jive with that, though. They want to go ahead and move into the process of finding Kiffin’s replacement. That’s understandable. Kiffin is seemingly frustrated with the ewnitre situations and his recent actions probe exactly that.

Lane Kiffin situation at Ole Miss has officially come unglued

According to multiple reports, Kiffin has sidestepped team leadership with pieces of the Ole Miss coaching staff, roster, and program as a whole. A team meeting originally schedule for Sunday morning has been pushed to 1 P.M. CT.

The leadership council for Ole Miss has some massively important names to the roster, including Trinidad Chambliss, Austin Simmons, De’Zhaun Stribling, Diego Pounds, Brycen Sanders, Will Echoles and TJ Dottery. It’s notable that Kiffin may be severing some of the relationships with these young athletes, as there is no doubt he would look to poach some of them from the Rebels roster to join him with the Tigers.

Building a roster through the portal will almost assuredly be Kiffin’s goal once he arrives in Baton Rouge, but he may not pull as many Ole Miss players with him as he’d like after his actions throughout this process. While he did want to stick with the team for the postseason, he’s also now realized he has to choose one route.

Apparently, his plan of course is to avoid some of the confrontation with players after emotions have run wild with Ole Miss officials over the last week.
