Alabama Crimson Tide WR snubbed from 2025 All-SEC team following career year that bests those who were rewarded instead of him
The All-SEC process seems to have forgotten about one of the best WRs in the conference.
The Alabama Crimson Tide didn’t have the year in the WR room that many expected. The thought coming into the season was that sophomore Ryan Williams would build off his phenomenal freshman season, helping lead the Tide to the CFP and potentially beyond.
In reality, though, Williams saw a regression. Drops plagued his 2025 season, and even in the SEC Championship game. Instead, it was Germie Bernard who became the go-to target for Ty Simpson. So you would think, that the leading receiver on the number one overall seed in the SEC would be worthy of an All-SEC selection, right? Wrong.
Germie Bernard snubbed from All-SEC team
The five players that made it for the Crimson Tide: S Bray Hubbard, OT Kaydn Proctor, LB Deontae Lawson, QB Ty Simpson, and C Parker Brailsford, were all worthy of making one of the three teams. But you mean to tell me, the player that has more big plays on offense than anyone on the Alabama roster isn’t worthy of at least a third team selection?
WRs like Mario Craver of the Texas A&M Aggies made it over Bernard. A player who has less receptions, fewer receiving touchdowns, and wasn’t a part of a regular season SEC Champion, nor was he the only player to score (for Alabama) in the SEC Championship last weekend.
Germie Bernard has also been a versatile playmaker
The other thing that Bernard possesses that few who made it above him is versatility. He has played QB in the wildcat, lined up in the backfield as a tailback, and he aligns all over the formation for the Crimson Tide. Kalen DeBoer has as much trust in his QB as he does in Bernard.
“We got all the trust in the world [in him],” said Kalen DeBoer after the South Carolina game. “You’ve seen us, every week, have different things that we do. He’s lined up in Wildcat, out of the backfield, throwing the ball [on] double pass opportunities. So guys who are disciplined, guys who have the game slow down for them…You give them the opportunities as much as possible in critical moments to go make plays for you.”
I guess he didn’t make enough for SEC voters.

Kalen DeBoer sends a message to Alabama QB Ty Simpson that he can no longer ignore ahead of the College Football Playoff
Kalen DeBoer doesn’t exactly have an elaborate plan when it comes to fixing Ty Simpson, but it’s the right one.
