Luckily, the Sooners are pretty much guaranteeing that they’re winning this game. Well, defensive end Taylor Wein is based on the mentality he needs as this game looms closer.
Sooners defensive end Taylor Wein guarantees a win over Alabama
“For me, the first round of the playoffs was four [games] ago,” Wein told reporters earlier in the week. “This is just another game. We knew that if we lost, it was going to ruin a lot of our goals. So our mentality is, we’re not going to lose. We’re going to figure out a way to win. We need to play our best ball. And when we do play at a really high level, it’s really hard to beat us. So for us, yeah, it’s just another game. We gotta go 1-0.”
Oklahoma has already beaten Alabama once, doing so in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, one of the hardest road atmospheres in the country. So, they should feel like they will win this game. At the same time, you can’t go into a game saying you will lose or feeling that way. If you don’t have confidence, you will find yourself doing exactly what you thought would happen – losing.
Alabama is a good team that won’t let the Sooners off easy. And, it is likely coming back harder at the Sooners, looking for revenge. Then again, it was looking for revenge a few weeks ago when these teams played in the regular season, seeing how OU beat them in 2024, too.
The Sooners are ready for whatever is about to come. You can tell they have the right mentality as the game gets closer. They are approaching this week the right way, and now all they have to do is deliver on that guarantee they are making.
