The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a couple of weeks off since their loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in the Big Ten Championship. They will begin preparation for the Miami Hurricanes this coming week, and they’ll play them on Dec. 31.

With time off, Hartline has assembled much of his South Florida staff and begun roster management. The latest player the Bulls have offered on the recruiting front is committed to the Buckeyes.

South Florida offers Jeremiah Smith’s brother 2027 S Angelo Smith

The new coaching staff at South Florida has extended an offer to Buckeyes 2027 commitment S Angelo Smith. The brother of Ohio State’s star wideout has been committed to the Buckeyes since Sept. 21, and Ohio State offered him back on June 17.

Smith is from South Florida and plays at Chaminade-Madonna (FL), the same school Jeremiah attended. Of course, Hartline has to recruit players in the South Florida area who make sense for the Bulls, but it’s a bit awkward for Smith to be offered while Hartline is still with Ohio State in the College Football Playoff. Smith is the No. 56-ranked safety and No. 586 player nationally in the class of 2027, per 247 Sports Composite.

Hartline has had a terrific relationship with Jeremiah for the last few years. That relationship undoubtedly will help Hartline and the South Florida staff if they seriously pursue the younger Smith. Ohio State and Hartline need to focus entirely on what’s ahead with Miami, but this is an interesting development.
