Florida Gators get massive news to end 2025 that will catapult Jon Sumrall’s team to another level
Wide reciever Dallas Wilson has re-signed with the Florida Gators, giving them a five-star weapon on the outside.
The Florida Gators received massive news on New Year’s Eve that wide receiver Dallas Wilson has re-signed with the team for the 2026 season.
Wilson is the second of the five key players that fans had keyed in on to keep for the 2026 season with the other being fellow wide receiver Vernell Brown III. Edge rusher Jayden Woods and quarterback DJ Lagway have entered their names into the transfer portal and running back Jadan Baugh is still up in the air ahead of the portal opening on January 2nd.
Dallas Wilson returning to Florida Gators for 2026 season
This is a massive development for the Gators and a big win for new head coach Jon Sumrall, as Wilson was primed to have a breakout season as a true freshman. Unfortunately, injuries cut it short, but he did preserve his redshirt by playing in just four games.
He made his college football debut against the Texas Longhorns, and was dominant with six receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Over the next three games, Wilson was the main focus of the defense, catching just six total passes for 63 yards and one touchdown.
A five-star recruit out of Tampa, Florida, Wilson was initially committed to, and signed with the Oregon Ducks. He ended up asking out of his contract and joined the Gators just two weeks later. He was so dominant at the Orange and Blue spring game with 10 receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns.
Needless to say, Sumrall being able to get Wilson to return is massive. His recruiting ability has shown to be excellent when it comes to the heavy hitters on the team. It also could make a difference when it comes to others in the transfer portal, including Auburn Tigers wide receiver Cam Coleman.
Everyone will be waiting for Baugh to make his decision, and that will be what every Gators fan will be waiting for. At the very least, having Wilson and Brown on the field is going to be huge for the Gators.
