The QB2 question is still up in the air for the Green Bay Packers’ regular season finale against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Backup Malik Willis is officially listed as questionable to play because of shoulder and hamstring injuries.

Either way, third-string quarterback Clayton Tune is expected to start, and Jordan Love will rest for the playoffs. If Willis can’t go, the Packers will elevate recently-signed Desmond Ridder from the practice squad for gameday.

Packers injury report

Two players from the 53-man roster have been ruled out due to injuries: Guard Donovan Jennings (throat) and Savion Williams (foot/illness). Additionally, guard John Williams (back, PUP) and linebacker Nick Niemann (pectoral, IR) won’t be activated this week.

Wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (concussion) is listed as doubtful, so it’s very unlikely that he will play — and the Packers will be short-handed at wide receiver, even if the plan is to rest key players.

Beyond Malik Willis, the other player listed as questionable is right tackle Zach Tom, who’s missed the past few games with a knee injury — he’s also dealing with a back issue.

Plan for Week 18

Quarterback Jordan Love and running back Josh Jacobs are among the players who have no injury designation. However, both are expected to sit as the Packers have already clinched the seventh seed in the NFC.

Head coach Matt LaFleur hasn’t revealed which players will rest, and some important ones will have to at least be active on gameday — the Packers need 48 active players. With 55 players on the gameday roster (53 active plus two practice squad elevations), and two already ruled out and one doubtful with injuries, the Packers can have up to four healthy scratch slots to rest pieces.

On the other side, the Minnesota Vikings will have starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy back, as he’s getting better from a hand injury. Running back Aaron Jones (hip), tight end T.J. Hockenson (shoulder), tight end Gavin Bartholomew (back), and wide receiver Myles Price (ankle) have been ruled out, while cornerback Dwight McGlothern (hip) is questionable.
