The Ohio State Buckeyes are on the board with another transfer portal addition.

Ohio State added WR Devin McCuin from UTSA on Wednesday, its third addition from the portal. The Buckeyes are on the board again on Thursday with a big defensive addition.

Ohio State adds former Wisconsin LB Christian Alliegro via the transfer portal

The Buckeyes struck a big win on Thursday morning, receiving a transfer portal commitment from LB Christian Alliegro, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Alliegro is the No. 10 linebacker available, per 247 Sports.

Alliegro is a big-time addition for the Buckeyes after recording 53 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and four sacks in just 10 games in 2025 with the Badgers. Alliegro played three years at Wisconsin and became a starter in 2024 with 66 tackles, five tackles for a loss, and three sacks.

The Buckeyes are likely losing Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese to the NFL, though Reese hasn’t announced just yet. Alliegro gives Ohio State a player capable of taking over Reese’s role. Matt Patricia, Ohio State’s defensive coordinator, used Reese as a blitzer, spy, and traditional linebacker.

Alliegro is a 6-3, 240-pound Connecticut native who was a three-star prospect in the 2023 class.

Ohio State’s top linebackers on the roster are Peyton Pierce, Riley Pettijohn, and TJ Alford. Alliegro figures into that mix as a major contributor, and he comes as the Buckeyes’ biggest portal win.
