It’s Green Bay Packers-Chicago Bears 3.0. In the regular season, each team won one (Packers at Lambeau, Bears at Soldier Field), and now the NFC North rivals will play a third time, with the latest being the most important one, the wild-card round of the playoffs.

Our four NFC North writers discuss the potential outcome of the game on Saturday and who will advance to the divisional round.

Bears 31, Packers 28

It’d only be fitting if this matchup comes down to a one-possession margin for the sixth consecutive time between these two teams. This will be a highly competitive and highly emotional game for all 60 minutes, and perhaps some extra time like we got last time.

The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win, and it seems like the Packers are going in with the wrong mindset and playing too much into the rivalry.

With a healthy, rested Jordan Love at quarterback, I can still see the Packers putting up more points this time around, and I have concerns about both defenses. If Chicago can get an early score out of the gate, I see the Bears hanging in this game and pulling it out late in front of the home crowd to advance.

This is an extremely difficult game to project, and I do think the Packers were the better team in both games, even in the one the Bears miraculously won.

The Packers have Jordan Love back, and they almost won the second game with Malik Willis, and that was after Micah Parsons and Devonte Wyatt had season-ending injuries. But the Bears are a dangerous team, especially on offense. Caleb Williams is volatile, but his highs are extremely high, and his ability to generate explosives out of structure is notable.

I would tend to be negative about the Packers, coming off a four-game losing streak, but that sequence is much more related to injuries than anything else. And the Bears are also in a two-game losing streak, showing obvious weaknesses, especially on defense.

Red zone efficiency and avoiding turnovers are the deciding factors for the Packers, even if the defense will inevitably suffer without Parsons.

Packers 26, Bears 17

An NFC North matchup in the playoffs is special, and both games were excellent. This matchup, being back in Chicago, will happen without Micah Parsons, and the Packers’ defense has been rough without him. Even so, the Bears haven’t exactly been impressive this season. They are similar to the 2019 Packers and 2022 Minnesota Vikings: Teams that overachieved and are called “fraudulent.”

Jordan Love is healthy, as are the majority of the Packers’ offensive weapons. That will be enough to take the Bears down on Saturday night.

I think we learned in Week 18 that the Bears are the team we thought they were. They can benefit from some fluky stuff and take advantage of their takeaways. If the Packers play a clean game, Chicago can’t beat them. It’s that simple. I’m betting they do.
