Florida Gators receive expert prediction to land explosive offensive weapon they already expected to land
Jon Sumrall is expected to receive a commitment wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., something sources told A to Z Sports weeks prior.
Right before the new year, sources told A to Z Sports the Florida Gators were going to land wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. via the transfer portal. It made all the sense in the world with offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner and wide receivers coach Trent McKnight coming to Gainesville, as Singleton played at Georgia Tech in 2023 and 2024.
That intel took a hit when Singleton decided to enter the NFL Draft a few days later. As is tradition in the world of college football, things changed quickly, as Singleton entered the transfer portal instead.
Florida Gators predicted to land Eric Singleton Jr. in transfer portal
The sources who told A to Z Sports that Singleton would land in Gainesville appear to have been right all along, as he received an expert prediction from On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos to land in Gainesville.
Singleton is an explosive receiver who thrived at Georgia Tech with Buster Faulkner in 2023 and 2024. He then transferred to Auburn for the 2025 season, and his production dipped a bit. In his three-year career, Singleton has caught 162 passes for 2,002 yards and 12 touchdowns, along with 36 rushes for 201 yards and a touchdown.
Adding the 5-10, 180-pound speedster to a unit that has a lot of explosiveness on the outside is a great idea for the Gators. He can play whatever role you need him to, which will be nice to have with Brown likely in the slot and Wilson at X-receiver. The continuity with Singleton and Faulkner will be invaluable for the 2026 Gators offense, along with the addition of wide receivers coach Marcus Davis from Auburn, where Singleton played in 2025.
The one interesting thing with Singleton coming to Florida is the other wide receiver transfers. Bailey Stockton from Georgia Tech and Micah Mays from Wake Forest have already transferred in, with the Gators prioritizing other players at the position in former four-star Jaime Ffrench committed to visiting.
Needless to say, the Gators’ offense looks to be really explosive going into next season.
