Dan Quinn reveals unsettling plan at premium position for Commanders, which leaves door wide open on 2026 NFL Draft addition
The Washington Commander made additions to the defense, but the CB position still lacks a true lockdown option after Dan Quinn revealed plans for Amik Robertson and Mike Sainristil.
The Washington Commanders upgraded the roster in a big way during an active free agency period, but there’s still plenty of work to do in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Dan Quinn reveals plan at CB after latest roster changes
Quinn spoke to the media at the NFL Annual League Meeting in Arizona, where he was asked about recent moves the Washington Commanders have made since his last public appearance. One of the hot topics was the CB position after adding Amik Robertson in free agency, and where Mike Sainristil could play as well.
As always, Quinn says they are open to anything, and they want them both to compete at nickel corner and outside corner.
This move makes a ton of sense with both Robertson and Sainristil being sub 5-10 corners with experience both inside and outside. Robertson is a much better nickel corner than Sainristil, but Sainristil also struggled big time last season on the outside.
This approach tells me they don’t really have a true lockdown corner outside to complement Trey Amos on the other side. Quinn said after the season that they need a premier corner who can defend in the biggest moments, and they still don’t have one. Don’t be surprised if the Commanders draft a lockdown CB with one of their first three picks.
The Commanders need to draft an outside CB
The Washington Commanders have done a lot of homework on CBs so far, including Mansoor Delane, who has a top-30 visit scheduled, and could be an option at No. 7 overall. They’ve also looked at players available after the first round, and Malik Muhammad and Daylen Everette are two top options at No. 71 overall if they fall.
The CB position falls off after the third round, and the Commanders have four of their six picks on day three, so they’re best to address it early. They also lack a second-round pick this year, so trading back while still landing a player they wanted, while adding picks, could help them land a top CB in the second round.
Regardless of what they decide, they need to add another outside CB who can compete to start, or become solid depth with Ahkello Withspoon.
