Recruiting has been a roller coaster for the Florida Gators over the last decade, and it’s something that head coach Jon Sumrall is looking to fix.

So far, the Gators have three commitments in the class of 2027:

Saturday afternoon is going to be a big recruiting event for the Gators, and they won’t be focusing on just the 2027 recruiting class.

Florida Gators to host talented 2028 quarterback

With the Gators likely landing four-star 2027 quarterback Davin Davidson on Thursday afternoon when he announces his commitment, Sumrall and the Gators are hosting 2028 quarterback Gino Wang.

Wang is currently without a star ranking on either Rivals or 247 Sports. Out of Servite Catholic in Anaheim, California, Wang has good measurables for a sophomore at 6-1 and 207 pounds.

He’s a plus vertical passer with good zip on the football. Wang displays good ball placement, and can do so under pressure. He’s also a dual-threat quarterback, having the ability to threaten every blade of grass with both his arms and feet. Wang also displays poise under pressure, firing accurate footballs with defenders in his face.

The Gators aren’t the only ones interested in the 2028 signal caller. The leaders in the clubhouse are the UConn Huskies with an 81.5% in the Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine. Most of the schools interested in him are from the east coast, with only Arizona State and Stanford showing interest on his home coast at the moment.

It’s early in the recruitment process for Wang, but it’s a good sign that the Gators continue to look at quarterbacks.

Mooney quarterback Davin Davidson (#4) scrambles as he looks for an open receiver. Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School hosted Cocoa High School for the Class 2A state semi-final football game Friday evening, Dec. 5, 2025. Mooney won the game 40-0.
