Notre Dame continues their statement in the state of Florida with its latest commitment that helps bolster the 2027 recruiting class
Notre Dame football landed a commitment from dynamic 2027 safety Zayden Gamble over an elite offer list.
There was a lot of buzz around Notre Dame football this weekend, and it wasn’t just because the team concluded spring with its annual Blue-Gold Game. Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish also had a huge recruiting win on Saturday, landing four-star 2027 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas safety Zayden Gamble.
Freeman and Co. were able to win out against an impressive offer list, which included Ohio State, Florida, and Miami, amongst many others. Gamble continues huge momentum for Notre Dame in the state of Florida after landing 2027 Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna defensive back John Gay III this past week. That trend in the Sunshine State isn’t ending any time soon.
Notre Dame is also in a tremendous place with Gamble’s teammate, 2027 wide receiver target Julius Jones Jr., as well as Vero Beach (Fla.) High School quarterback Champ Monds. For a long time, the state of Florida gave the Irish recruiting operation a lot of problems, especially under head coach Brian Kelly. Things have changed under Coach Freeman.
With Notre Dame already holding a commitment from 2027 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker Amarii Irvin, they got off to a strong start. You haven’t seen anything yet, and more is coming in the near future.
Zayden Gamble’s recruiting background
Gamble is rated as a four-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Gamble currently sits as the No. 176 overall player, the No. 14 safety, and the No. 21 player in the state of Florida for the 2027 recruiting class. Rivals is the lowest on the Florida native, pegging him as the No. 236 overall player on their ranking.
If the rankings for Gamble don’t impress you, his offer list certainly will. Some of his top offers include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ole Miss, Florida, Missouri, Florida State, Auburn, Indiana, Washington, Colorado, UNC, Virginia Tech, Pitt, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Maryland, Boston College, Syracuse, Cal, West Virginia, SMU, Oregon State, UCF, and Purdue, among others.
The 5-11, 190-pound defensive back has been an outstanding player for St. Thomas Aquinas for the last couple of years. During the 2025 season, Gamble recorded 65 total tackles, three interceptions, five pass breakups, three tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. The Florida native is one of the top coverage safeties in the 2026 class, demonstrating the talent to make plays all over the field.
