The Oklahoma Sooners are gaining momentum, now projected to land elite four-star safety Bode Sparrow. Now, they are in the top five for Mustang, Oklahoma, CB Gabriel Osborne, a recruit they have pushed hard for.

He’s currently a four-star, but if he has a big season in 2026-2027, he could end up a five-star. But none of that matters to him. He already has the right mindset, showing exactly why OU wants him so badly.

“It doesn’t matter,” Osborne told SoonerScoop.com. “I don’t think stars matter; I’m not gonna lie. Because at the end of the day, I came out here with no stars. I just came out here to compete, and I showed who a dawg is, for real. I earned my stars, and I ain’t even need ’em. You gotta have the mentality just to play football. You gotta have that dawg mentality.”

And, Osborne does. If you watched any of his basketball highlights, you would see that. And you can also look at his basketball film.

Oklahoma could be the favorite to land Gabriel Osborne

There is optimism that OU will secure an elite in-state CB, Gabriel Osborne. On3 currently projects Osborne to commit to OU over Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, and Alabama, all of which are in his final five schools.

The Sooners have been targeting Gabriel Osborne, the No. 11 cornerback in the 2027 class and No. 3 in Oklahoma. Osborne, a standout basketball player at Mustang High School, demonstrates his versatility as a dual-sport athlete. Rivals now projects Osborne will commit to Oklahoma.

Osborne is the No. 29 player in the country, the No. 3 player in the state, and the No. 5 at his position. Not to mention, OU has the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the state and is projected to land the No. 5 player, Case Alexander. This could only entice Osborne to commit more. The Sooners are on a roll in their 2027 recruiting class.
