Lions give big updates on the injury status for Kerby Joseph, Sam LaPorta, and Brian Branch
Detroit Lions provide key injury updates on Kerby Joseph, Sam LaPorta, and Brian Branch at OTAs, and while none are practicing, what Dan Campbell said should change how fans view the situation.
The Detroit Lions are on their third day of OTAs on Friday, and it’s also the day that local media are welcomed into the building, and we get a chance to hear from Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
One of the biggest things we were hoping to learn about at OTAs was the status of Kerby Joseph, Sam LaPorta, and Brian Branch with their injuries at this point in the year. Now we know. Let’s talk about it.
Updates on Kerby Joseph, Brian Branch, and Sam LaPorta
Let’s start here. It sounds like all three players are in the building, and that is a big plus, but all three of them are not practicing, according to Campbell. I know Lions fans will be freaked out about this, but it’s really not that big of a thing. The Lions are essentially doing nothing right now. This is working out and doing drills.
“That’s not the priority, and it’s not worth all that anyway, “Campbell said. “…The most important thing is continue to let them improve, rehab, all that, that’ll take precedence, right now. So they’re in meetings, you know, they’re getting the mental side of this, and just take it day to day.”
Campbell did say LaPorta was participating in walk-throughs, so that’s good. But the overarching theme here is to get these guys healthy and make sure that they’re able to get on the field and practice and play when it counts. It definitely does not count in May. Not one bit. So, I encourage you all not to freak out. If we get to July and they’re not at training camp, then go ahead and freak out.
