Pair of elite 2027 commits have a recruiting pitch that Alabama 5-star wide receiver target Monshun Sales can’t afford to ignore

The Alabama Crimson Tide hosted 5-star WR Monshun Sales over the weekend, and at the same time, two 2027 Alabama QB commits competed at the Elite 11 Finals. They both had a message for Sales.

The Alabama Crimson Tide had a huge weekend for the 2027 recruiting class last week. Holding its first official visit weekend of the summer, Alabama was able to secure a commitment from a top-seven running back in the 2027 class, Nigel Newkirk.

But the Crimson Tide also hosted the No.1 WR in the class, Monshun Sales, on an official visit. Alabama looks poised to make a run at Sales, who has been predicted to join Indiana, the state where he plays high school football. It’s safe to say that the Crimson Tide will need all the help it can get, and two quarterbacks in the 2027 class are doing their part.

Notable 2027 commits for Alabama

  • QB Elijah Haven (5-star)
  • QB Trent Seaborn (4-star)
  • LB Kenneth Simon (4-star)
  • RB Nigel Newkirk (4-star)

Elijah Haven, Trent Seaborn recruit Monshun Sales

Sales was born and raised in Alabama before moving to Indiana. He had a great time during his official visit with the Crimson Tide, evidenced by photos and intel gathered after the trip to Tuscaloosa.

What came of Sales’ trip to Tuscaloosa?

“The Rivals Industry’s No. 1 rated wide receiver in Monshun Sales took his official visit over the weekend. He is an Alabama native that saw a lot of his extended family members during the trip with many showing up for the photoshoot on campus. Head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb continue to make an impression and they showed Sales how he’d be used in the offense comparing his game and role to that of their former first-round draft pick Rome Odunze.”

Sales saw the plan for how he’d be immersed into the program and offense with them emphasizing “it’s worked everywhere they’ve been.” The Sales camp called Alabama a “first-class place.” – Steve Wiltfong, Rivals/On3

How Alabama can close on Sales

This commitment could go all the way through signing day for Sales. That tends not to be the trend anymore, and I expect a decision a lot sooner, but Alabama has to stack more chips in the 2027 class. If they can add 5-star corner Hayden Stepp in the coming weeks, that could be a huge boost in the race for Sales.
