A quote surfaced from the Gabriel Georges camp a couple of days ago that pointed to the five-star prospect potentially viewing football at Ohio State as a chore.

“David loves the game, but at Ohio State, it felt more like football was a chore he had to do, not something he gets to enjoy playing,” a source told Chattanooga Times. 

 The quote spread quickly across social media, and Buckeyes fans did not take kindly to it. Many viewed it as a sign that Gabriel Georges might not have been the right fit for the program coach Ryan Day has built in Columbus.

Following the backlash, Georges’ uncle Gene Aganor posted a message on social media that appeared directed at the Ohio State fanbase. Aganor wrote:

“I know a 5-star RB who has a self imposed curfew at 8pm. Doesn’t eat junk food. Works out like he’s going to war tomorrow. Doesn’t party. Watches film like he’s in the league already. Loves the game more than you and I. I don’t worry about that kid.”

The message reads as a direct response to Ohio State fans who took issue with the original quote, and it makes clear that the Gabriel Georges camp is aware of the reaction it caused within Buckeye Nation.

Gabriel Georges is an elite talent and a five-star prospect for a reason, but Ohio State’s roster depth at the position gives Day and his staff room to be patient in finding the right fit.

Ohio State’s football program operates like an NFL team. The expectations are high each and every year, and they sit at a level well above where Tennessee currently is.
