Insider predicts Miami Hurricanes as favorite for top 100 recruit from Florida despite growing up a Gators fan
The Canes could be poised to land an outstanding South Florida talent for 2028.
Recruiting in the state of Florida has heated up this year. Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal has put together one of the best classes in the nation for 2027, headlined by 5-star Georgia CB flip Donte Wright (Long Beach, CA) and 5-star local athlete A’Mir Sears.
The Florida Gators have also had a strong offseason, with new head coach Jon Sumrall building an impressive 2027 class in his first offseason after taking over for Billy Napier.
With 2027 classes largely established — or at least the top end talents in of most of them — attention has turned even more towards 2028, where plenty of top tier talent in the Sunshine State is entering a crucial fall filled visits and commitment decisions.
And the Hurricanes appears to be getting the upper hand on a lifelong Florida Gator fan. Chad Simmons of On3/Rivals has predicted the Canes as the favorite to land top 100 player WR Tromon Isaac from Hollywood, Florida (Chaminade-Madonna).
Rivals’ Chad Simons names Miami as the favorite to land 2028 4-star WR Tromon Isaac
Isaac is ranked as the No. 92 overall player, No. 14 wide receiver, and No. 11 player in the state of Florida for 2028. Beyond Miami and Florida, he holds offers from Notre Dame, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Auburn, and Ole Miss, among others.
Isaac, who said he was a Florida Gator fan growing up, mentioned his relationship with Miami wide receiver coach Kevin Beard, as well as the priority that Miami has made him.
We’ll see how Isaac’s visit schedules lay out for the fall, but it’s a good bet that he finds himself on campus in Coral Gables this fall, and perhaps that will be enough to seal the deal for Cristobal, Beard, and the Hurricanes.
