The NFL trade deadline is set for Nov. 10, and the Cleveland Browns are in a spot few expected. Many thought Cleveland would be sellers, but it’s looking like the opposite at this time. A 4-2 record and first place in the AFC North through six weeks have changed that outlook. Things can shift over the next couple of weeks, but the Browns don’t look like a team heading toward a selloff.

Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy has been at the center of a lot of the chatter about who Cleveland could sell off. Several receiver-needy teams around the league are hoping to make a playoff push. Finding a suitor for Jeudy may not be all that difficult if the Browns are willing to part with him. However, the way Jeudy keeps stepping up, paired with the team’s record, makes a trade look unlikely at the moment.

Jerry Jeudy delivers in the clutch for the Browns

Jeudy led the Browns with four catches for 69 yards in their Week 6 win over the Baltimore Ravens. His biggest play came on the game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, when he hauled in a 33-yard catch. That shows how valuable he can be, even as the third receiver in this offense.

It wasn’t the first time he came through late. Jeudy stepped up against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a Thursday night game a few weeks ago and made several tough fourth-quarter catches. Then he did it again against Baltimore this past weekend.

Browns coach Todd Monken offered a clear look at how he views the veteran receiver’s place in the offense.

“We’re better with Jerry than we are without Jerry,” Monken said. “And I think we’re doing a better job of getting him involved and trying to find the places where we can use Jerry. And it hasn’t been easy, as I said before. But he’s handled it well the last few weeks, and you can see it with the confidence playing, the juice he has. And that’s the biggest thing, from practice to the games, carrying that over.”

Jeudy’s numbers have dropped off, but he still brings value

The production hasn’t been there for Jeudy this season, as he has 12 catches for 150 yards through six games, averaging just 25 yards per game. That puts him on track for his worst season in three years with Cleveland.

He’s also on pace for the lowest yardage total of his career. His previous low came in 2021, when he posted 467 receiving yards for the Denver Broncos.

Jeudy was a Pro Bowler in 2024 with 1,229 receiving yards, and that number fell to 602 last season. Now, as the Browns’ third option, his totals could dip even lower than that.

Still, the box score doesn’t capture everything Jeudy brings to the table. A receiver who shows up in big moments matters to a team trying to stack wins in a way not many believed they would this season. Cleveland has leaned on him in two of its biggest fourth quarters, and he’s answered both times.

With the Browns winning, there’s little reason to move a player who keeps making plays when the game is on the line. Selling off a proven option would send the wrong message to a locker room that has started 4-2.

It’s starting to look more and more like Jeudy will be in Cleveland for the rest of the season. The next couple of games before Nov. 10 will be telling on whether anything changes.
