Greg McElroy is calling LSU vs Auburn for ESPN and he has a strong take on LSU football ahead of the game
It’ll be a battle of the Tigers in Jordan-Hare Stadium this weekend as LSU and Auburn are set to meet.
LSU and Auburn — the true Tigers of the SEC (no offense Mizzou, but you’ve only been in the league since 2012) — will meet in Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.
Greg McElroy and Sean McDonough will call the game for ESPN.
On Thursday, McElroy and On3’s Chris Low shared some thoughts on LSU and what kind of team they can be down the stretch.
“I think Lane Kiffin sort of likes where his team is,” said Low on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning. “They’ve gone on the road and they’ve not been able to get it done against two really good football teams, but they’ve also been able to hang around enough that, and again, talking to people on that staff, they feel like their best football’s in front of them.”
“I think LSU is one of those teams that’s very dangerous for sure,” added McElroy.
Cole Cubelic, McElroy’s co-host, said he thinks LSU is a team that’s “lurking.”
“I get this feeling that they’re sort of lurking right now,” said Cubelic. “They have the ability to sort of hit this switch and then really go on a run.”
LSU is 5-2. They probably need to win out to reach the College Football Playoff (though it’s possible they could get in with three losses, depending on how things shake out).
Winning out, though, will not be an easy task.
LSU has Auburn on the road this weekend (and Auburn just knocked off Georgia in Athens) before playing Alabama and Texas at home, and then Tennessee and Arkansas on the road to finish the regular season.
None of those games will be easy wins. It’s shaping up to be a wild November for LSU and the rest of the SEC.
