The Alabama Crimson Tide are counting down the hours until they face the LSU Tigers this weekend. Head coach Kalen DeBoer has done extremely well toeing the company line and keeping his troops in line with consistent messaging. Everyone, including DeBoer, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, and quarterback Ty Simpson, is singing the same tune. That’s a big positive for Alabama.

While our expert team of pickers has Alabama beating LSU comfortably, DeBoer doesn’t want his team buying into a near-10-point betting line being their advantage. Everything is about staying focused and taking LSU as a major threat. Losing this week would be devastating for the Tide.

Here’s what DeBoer told the media on Thursday.

Kalen DeBoer doesn’t want Alabama to lower its guard against LSU

When asked about how the Tide must view this weekend’s showdown beyond being a must-win as Alabama fights for an SEC title game bid, DeBoer made it sound like this is any other high-profile matchup. While it’s a bit bland for coachspeak, it’s also highlighting that Alabama refuses to take LSU for granted despite its series dominance in their favor.

“It’s going to be a tough test, and we’re going to have to bring our best for 4 quarters to win another SEC game.”

Alabama is 57-27-5 all-time against LSU, and they’ve lost only twice going back to the end of the 2011 season. They’re 9.5-point favorites entering Friday afternoon.
