Recruiting has been tremendous for Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall.

We knew that his process was going to be a huge asset to the Gators, but the results coming as fast as they did is a tremendous result. 247 Sports has Florida with the No. 4 recruiting class, with five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.

This kind of success is massive for the Gators, both short and long-term. With official visit season coming up, Sumrall is looking to make even more waves.

Florida Gators continuing pursuit of five-star WR Easton Royal

As things currently sit, the Gators have three commitments in Rivals’ top-100, and they have been very intentional about their targets. There are two five-star recruits they have made a major focus: No. 1 overall recruit DL Jalen Brewster and wide receiver Easton Royal.

Brewster continues to be a focus for the Gators, but the biggest wild card in the class is arguably Royal. He is currently a Texas Longhorns commit, but their lead isn’t nearly as strong as it used to be. The No. 13 recruit in the nation has already visitsed Gainesville once, and they have a leg up over multiple other schools: Royal has an official visit lined up the weekend of June 11-13th. It’s the third of four official visits Royal has lined up. He’s already visited the Ole Miss Rebels (May 1st), and will be visiting the LSU Tigers (May 28th) and Texas (June 19th).

Royal is a dynamic athlete who reminds Rivals of another explosive Florida Gators weapon, Percy Harvin.

Easton Royal dynamic athleticism and ability with the ball in his hands reminds us of Percy Harvin. Like Harvin, Royal projects as an offensive weapon, capable of making big plays as a pass-catcher, ball carrier, or return man. Royal is bigger and faster at the same stage, while Harvin was a more accomplished high school player.

Rivals

Royals’ recruitment is far from over, and Sumrall has been recruiting him since he was at Tulane. Even with the three wide receiver commits the Gators have, Royal is a different kind of player.
