Florida Gators HC Jon Sumrall brilliantly trolls Texas Longhorns after win, and they only have themselves to blame

It’s pretty remarkable that the Florida Gators upset the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon, but after the game was wilder.

The Florida Gators were going into Austin on a desperate mission to prevent their season from going into a free fall. After a fourth-and-one stop at the end of the second quarter, the Gators outscored the Texas Longhorns 24-7 to get a three-point upset victory.

Arguably the biggest reason why the Gators got the win was quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. The redshirt freshman only got the start due to Aaron Philo’s shoulder injury, and he helped elevate the Gators’ offense to another level. It was a big moment for Jon Sumrall finding a way to fix everything that had gone wrong in their two losses.

It was a very important game in Sumrall’s first season after getting blown out the last two weeks. Staying composed after getting down 14 in the first half was big. It led to the touchdown drive from Jones at the end ofr the half, including a ballsy fourth-and-12 call which resulted in a Dallas Wilson catch on the sideline.

After the game, Sumrall gave a very passionate interview with Kris Budden on the field, where you could tell how much this team means to him. After the game, Sumrall left the stadium in Austin wearing a cowboy hat.

Normally, this would be a normal troll, as the Longhorns are heavily associated with cowboys and ranching, hence the hat. Leaving the stadium wearing it got plenty of people both upset and thinking Sumrall was the coolest guy in the country because “he gets it.”

What makes this a little more interesting is how he got the hat. Sumrall didn’t bring it with him, nor did he buy it. The Longhorns’ own student organization, the Silver Spurs, gave it to Sumrall.

Sumrall got to look like the coolest coach in all of college football and troll the Longhorns at the same time, all while they gave it to him. This is one of those things that is just too perfect.
