LSU Tigers 5-star commit drops strong statement about his recruitment as other SEC programs try to flip him
A 2027 five-star recruit who has been committed to the LSU Tigers since early January is being pursued by numerous other SEC programs. Lane Kiffin and the Tigers, however, are confident they can fend off those other programs.
A 2027 five-star recruit who’s been committed to the LSU Tigers since January is being pursued by several other SEC programs.
According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Miami, South Carolina, and Texas A&M are trying to flip 2027 five-star EDGE Jaiden Bryant from LSU.
Bryant, 6-foot-3/245 pounds from Columbia, SC, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 EDGE in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina. He’s also rated as the No. 20 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
The LSU commit visited each of those programs this spring.
Texas A&M is the biggest threat to flip Bryant, according to Simmons.
Jaiden Bryant drops strong quote about his commitment to LSU
While Bryant is clearly checking out other programs, he says he’s solid in his commitment to the Tigers.
“Schools are working hard, but I am locked in with LSU,” said Bryant to On3 this week. “I will take the visits, and see how things go, but I am feeling really good about my commitment.”
Bryant is scheduled to take official visits to Miami (May 29), Texas A&M (June 5), South Carolina (June 12), and LSU (June 19).
The fact that LSU gets the final official visit is definitely a big advantage for the Tigers as they look to hold on to the five-star EDGE.
Bryant, meanwhile, says he just wants to be at a “defensive school that produces players”.
“I just want to be at a defensive school that produces players,” said Bryant to On3. “That’s big for me. That is a big part of why I committed to LSU, so that is important to me.”
LSU certainly has a long history of sending elite defenders to the NFL.
