LSU Tigers 5-star recruiting target is ready to announce his decision, and he already knows where he’s going

The LSU Tigers are one of four teams in the mix to land 2027 five-star offensive lineman Mark Matthews.

Matthews, 6-foot-5/300 pounds from Fort Lauderdale, FL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 3 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

The Miami Hurricanes, Texas A&M Aggies, and Georgia Bulldogs are the other programs that are in Matthews’ final four.

According to 247Sports, LSU “has made Matthews a massive priority.”

“And then LSU, just met [offensive line] coach [Eric Wolford] and he’s a great O-line coach,” said Matthews to 247Sports of his interest in the Tigers. “And [head coach] Lane Kiffin starting his new new era, it’s cool to see.”

Mark Matthews already knows where he’s committing

Matthews told 247Sports that he already knows where he’s committing, but he hasn’t revealed his decision to any of the coaches at his final schools.

“The five-star offensive tackle says that he knows who he will be committing to, but has yet to tell coaching staffs of his choice,” noted 247Sports’ Zach Blostein.

LSU has worked hard to win this recruiting battle, but it’s the Aggies and the Hurricanes who are currently viewed as the favorites to land Matthews.

“Miami has been the Rivals Prediction Machine favorite but the Aggies have been picking up steam and are in strong position to land Matthews as well,” wrote On3’s Steve Wiltfong this week. “I continue to like the way this one is starting to trend for Texas A&M as they’ve gained a lot of ground on long-time favorite Miami and this recruitment has now gotten to the point if he picks the Aggies it would be no surprise.”

Matthews hasn’t officially set a commitment date yet, but he told 247Sports that he’s “just got to get everything set up.”
