Miami star WR Malachi Toney hits Florida State with a one-word diss during EA Sports’ College Football 27 video
The Canes’ star takes a dig at the Seminoles’ current relevance in the college football world.
The outlook is bright for the Miami Hurricanes heading into the 2026 college football season. After coming up just one drive short of the program’s sixth national championship in January, the Canes are among a handful of teams with legitimate title expectations.
One of the primary factors that drove the Hurricanes last season was the emergence of wide receiver Malachi Toney. He was arguably the most versatile and electric player in the nation last year, scoring and making impact plays on the ground, through the air, and with his arm.
No game highlighted his ability more than the most important one of the Hurricanes’ regular season schedule every year – against Florida State. In Miami’s 28-22 win, Toney totaled seven catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

As for those Seminoles, who posted a second-straight losing record in 2025 at 5-7, Toney was asked about them during his video shoot with EA Sports (Toney is on the cover of the popular video game College Football 27). He was asked to say one nice thing about Florida State.
His response: “who?”
What else would you expect from those who play in some of the most bitter rivalries in the country?
Miami will always get Florida State’s best shot regardless of record or talent level of both programs. The Noles pushed Miami to the end last year despite losing by six. They also gave a solid effort (for a 2-10 team) that ended up fading away in the second half in a 36-14 Miami win in 2024. It’s always going to be a hard-fought game when these two schools get together.
But until Florida State finally returns to the win column in this rivalry, Toney and the rest of the Hurricanes will get the enjoyment of looking down on their cross-state rivals.
