Carnell Tate wasted no time in sending a strong message to Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith after he was drafted by the Titans
Carnell Tate is now a Tennessee Titan after becoming the latest first-round wideout from Ohio State. After being drafted, Tate had a message for his former teammate Jeremiah Smith.
The Ohio State Buckeyes were well represented in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, it’s almost like you’ve heard that statement before.
Linebackers Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles, wide receiver Carnell Tate, and safety Caleb Downs were the four Buckeyes to hear their name called in the first round. The biggest surprise may have been Tate going to the Tennessee Titans at No. 4 overall while Styles, Reese, and Downs were all still on the board.
Tate is just the latest Ohio State wideout to hear his name in the first round, and he’s already sent a message to the next up.
Carnell Tate lets Jeremiah Smith know he’s next up for the NFL
Smith was thrilled to watch Tate come off the board and he shared a post to X telling showing it. Tate replied on Friday morning telling Smith that he’s next up, and he’s not wrong.
Ohio State’s top first-round wideout prospect we have ever seen is still playing college football for one more year. Smith is going to be in contention to be a top-3 pick as a wideout a year from now and that’s typically unheard of, he’s worth it.
From the moment Ryan Day was careful with how he used Smith in the spring game two years ago when he was a freshman was a sign of what was to come. Smith cleared 1,300 receiving yards as a true freshman and he was the No. 1 wideout for the Buckeyes right away. The 6-foot-3 receiver followed his freshman season with 1,243 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns last year.
Smith is in store for another monster season where I think he has a legit chance to clear 1,400 receiving yards, especially if Ohio State can make a run at winning a second national championship in the last three seasons.
Ohio State fans need to enjoy Smith for the next 12+ games he has left in Columbus. Tate knows he’s next up just like the rest of us.
