Massive Ohio State football target abruptly predicted to land in the SEC, and it’s bad news for the Buckeyes
Ohio State has been picking up a ton of momentum for an elite recruit out of California. Now, the Buckeyes target is predicted to land in the SEC with the Texas Longhorns.
The last couple of weeks have been important for Ohio State football on the recruiting trail and the next couple will be just as key for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State has just 13 commitments which is a low number compared to many of the schools in the top 10 team rankings for recruiting at this time. The Buckeyes have just two commitments along the defensive line, but have been after a couple of targets hard lately.
One of those players is now predicted to land with a team in the SEC and it would be a tough break for Ohio State.
Elite defensive tackle predicted to pick Texas Longhorns over Ohio State
Ohio State is trying to double up with California defensive tackles in this class with Sierra Canyon (CA) standouts Marcus Fakatou and Kasi Currie. Fakatou has already made his visit to Columbus and is an Ohio State lean at this time, but Currie on the other hand has picked up steam to commit to Texas.
Rivals recruiting experts Greg Biggins and Adam Gorney have both entered predictions for Texas to land Currie. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound defensive tackle took an official visit to Texas this past weekend and it sounds like they hit a home run.
“The recent visit to Texas really solidified all the positive feelings Currie had for the Longhorns,” Biggins wrote. It was never just one coach but the entire staff including head coach Steve Sarkisian involved in the recruitment.”
Ohio State still has a chance with Kasi Currie
The Buckeyes still have an official visit set with Currie later this month, they just have to get there. Ohio State is currently scheduled to host Currie for a visit on June 19. Getting Currie on campus would be a must for their chances, so they just have to get there without Currie committing to Texas.
Ohio State and defensive line coach Larry Johnson will get a chance to make their final pitch if Currie gets on campus. It’s a big development to watch play out for the current recruiting class. Ohio State needs defensive tackle depth badly in this class, and Currie looks to be slipping away from them.
