Ohio State football to receive visit from recruit committed elsewhere at a position of need due to missing on David Gabriel Georges
The Ohio State Buckeyes still need a class of 2027 running back due to losing out on David Gabriel Georges to Tennessee. It appears the Buckeyes have a potential target with a visit locked in.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have the majority of their 2027 recruiting class wrapped up when it comes to high school commitments, but the summer was an up-and-down stretch on the recruiting trail. The Buckeyes picked up several key commitments and lost out on others, with no miss stinging more than 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges choosing the Tennessee Volunteers over Ohio State.
Ohio State put all of its eggs in one basket to land Gabriel Georges, and missing out on him was a gut punch to a recruiting class that stands at 19 commitments and ranks No. 7 in the country according to 247Sports. The Buckeyes still don’t have a running back committed, and there are several players they have their eye on heading into the fall as potential additions to the 2027 class. Some of those players already have offers. Some don’t.
Ohio State to host potential flip target for season opener
One player Ohio State hasn’t offered yet but plans to get on a visit is 3-star running back Jordan Hall out of the Cincinnati area. Hall is currently committed to Miami (Ohio). According to Mick Walker of Lettermen Row, Ohio State will get a visit from the Princeton running back for the season opener against Ball State on Sept. 5.
Hall is a 5-foot-10.5, 205-pound back who also recently picked up an offer from Penn State. Among his other offers are Wake Forest, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, and Toledo. He’s more of a speed running back, and he’s one option the Buckeyes now have their eyes on following a strong opening performance to his high school season. Hall rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns while also hauling in an 88-yard receiving touchdown in a win over Archbishop Moeller.
If Ohio State pushes for Hall, they can likely land him over a school like Miami. The thing to watch will be whether the Buckeyes extend an offer when he’s on campus for the season opener.
Hall is not a high-caliber recruit to the tune that Gabriel Georges was, but Ohio State was never going to land another Gabriel Georges in this class. That’s why they went all in on him in the first place. Hall would be a developmental type of recruit for the Buckeyes, and sometimes those are the kind of players you need.
Ohio State knows it has to bring in a top-flight running back in the class of 2028 after missing out on Gabriel Georges, and hitting the transfer portal following this season remains a real possibility as well.
