The Ohio State Buckeyes are at the top of college football and they’ve maneuvered the last couple of generations like no other program. Ohio State has just two seasons at or below .500 football since World War II.

Ohio State stays amongst the top teams in the mix every season and 2026 will be no different. Ryan Day’s team will return Jeremiah Smith for his third season and he’ll have a second-year starting quarterback with Julian Sayin

2026 will also give the fans something they’ve wanted for a while.

Ohio State reveals major uniform change going into the 2026 season

Fans have reason to be excited about Ohio State football to start the week. While it’s less than two weeks into May, Ohio State has plenty of attention on it. The Buckeyes teased that new uniforms were coming in the spring game with a change of the arm sleeves. Now, the Buckeyes have revealed the black uniforms will return in 2026. It will be the first time since 2022 that Ohio State sports the black uniform combo.

Ohio State went live with the reveal of the uniform on Monday at 6:14 p.m. — which is the numerals of the area code if you live in the Columbus area. The Buckeyes have long had one of the best, if not the best, uniform combinations in football when you include the helmet decorated in Buckeye leaves.

An entire uniform overhaul was never going to happen for the Buckeyes because the scarlet and grey combo is simply too iconic to college football and the brand overall. But the slight changes with the arm sleeves you can see above are a nice difference and a new look for Ohio State football to roll forward with. Bringing back the black uniform is an added bonus too.

Fans in Columbus will surely be hitting the stores and online shopping to find the new all black jerseys once they hit the market. Uniform changes don’t happen all that often for Ohio State, so Buckeye Nation will enjoy this one.
