The Ohio State Buckeyes are living quite well as the middle of November arrives. The team is rolling through opponents with ease, playing with confidence, flipping top recruits like Legend Bay, and producing top NFL draft talent. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day is focused on the process, and his methods are working.
The recruiting impact of Ohio State’s excellent on-field performance and the right hires for assistant coaches is huge. Tyler Bowen has been an excellent salesman for Day’s offensive line, drawing in a haul of talented players in recent weeks. That appears to include the 2027 four-star blocker Brody McNeel.
McNeel gave an update on Monday that appears to be a big payoff of efforts by the Ohio State staff.
Ohio State heads top blocking recruit Brody McNeel’s wishlist
McNeel had what he called a “perfect” visit to Columbus when he came for the Week 1 showdown against Texas. Looking back to September, it’s not surprising McNeel appears to be headed toward a verbal commitment soon.
“It was amazing. Everything was perfect,” McNeel told Rivals. “I got to see Ohio State in person play for the first time ever. Also got to go in the locker room after the game and go on the field…My biggest highlights were watching Ohio State win, meeting former players, going in the locker room after the game, and seeing the offensive line coaches again.”
He added to that statement this week.
“Definitely leading the way right now in my recruitment!” McNeel said on Monday. Insiders are now logging a crystal ball for Ohio State to land the 125th overall prospect who stands 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds. He’d further bolster a unit that has landed commitments from a handful of others over the last few weeks.
