In a season of negatives, the Oklahoma Sooners got some much-needed good news this week on the recruiting trail.

With signing day just around the corner, the Sooners are looking to make a push for a fourth straight top-ten recruiting class. To do so, they needed to hold onto their remaining commits despite undergoing plenty of staff changes and rumors around Brent Venables' future with the Sooners.

Nov 9, 2024; Columbia, Missouri, USA; Oklahoma Sooners head coach Brent Venables locks arms with his team prior to a game against the Missouri Tigers at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium.

Brent Venables’ coaching seat on fire after inexplicable loss to Missouri Tigers

What an embarrassing loss for the Oklahoma Sooners against Missouri. Facing a backup quarterback in Drew Pyne, the Sooners gave up 30 points, thanks to some embarrassingly poor situational play. The offense sputtered frequently throughout the game and turned the ball over, again, four times. The team committed multiple poor penalties, yet again, including a […]

Their key recruit in this class is five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi. Fasusi is Oklahoma's highest-ranked offensive line recruit ever and is the cornerstone of this class.

The Sooners are aiming to rebuild their offensive line after an abysmal 2024 season, and Fasusi is a major stepping stone to doing so.

Despite all of the turmoil surrounding the Sooners, Fasusi reaffirmed his commitment to Oklahoma and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh when speaking with OUInsider

When asked how he’s feeling about his commitment to OU, the mauler out of Lewisville, Texas quickly responded: “It’s Sooner for life, man.”

Oklahoma is 5-5 and is looking ahead to brutal matchups against Alabama and LSU to close out their season. With the Sooners needing one more win to make a bowl game and few opportunities to get it, they need as much good news as they can get.

Even with Oklahoma's worst offense in decades, Fasusi has still been impressed by how the Sooners are responding in the face of adversity.

"I think they've played great despite the difficulties they've faced. Execution-wise, injury-wise, stuff like that. They're trying to get better every week."

Fasusi headlines Oklahoma's 12th-ranked 2025 recruiting class. He is joined by a pair of other talented offensive linemen in this class that look to help Oklahoma return to their normal dominance up front under Bill Bedenbaugh in four-star offensive tackle Ryan Fodje and three-star offensive linemen Darius Afalava and Owen Hollenbeck.

Fasusi had been pursued relentlessly by the likes of Texas and Texas A&M recently, and with Oklahoma's struggles, many fans were worried about him decommitting just weeks before signing day. Now, it seems like he is locked in for the long haul with the Sooners.
