The Penn State Nittany Lions hosted a handful of the country’s top 2028 recruits during their 55-13 win over Buffalo on Saturday, and coach Matt Campbell’s squad used the dominant performance to make a lasting impression on some elite prospects.
Players like offensive lineman Josiah Eney, wide receiver Brynnen Thompson, Michael Adams, and Damari Christmas attended. For a group of young, impressionable high school recruits, watching Penn State roll to a 42-point victory created the kind of atmosphere Campbell and his staff want to showcase during campus visits.
Eney was blown away by the environment
Eney, a 6’5″, 300-pound interior offensive lineman from Maryland, came away from the visit with Penn State rising on his list. The 2028 recruit is one of the better offensive linemen on film in his class and does not yet have a rating, though one should come soon. Schools across the country are pursuing him, and Penn State made a strong push on Saturday.
“It was great there. Penn State is super high on my list after today. What stands out most to me is Coach Campbell. He’s an amazing coach on and off the field, and it shows in the guys and results he produced at Iowa State. It’s really a family atmosphere down there, and he leads it. Another thing that stands out to me is Coach Ryan Clanton. The guys he’s producing right now are insane, and they’re all dogs. The culture he’s brought to the Penn State O-line room. It’s crazy, and I really love it,” Eney said.
Campbell is using momentum the right way
No matter the opponent, a 55-13 win is going to look good. That’s especially true when recruits are watching from the sidelines, soaking in the game-day atmosphere at a place like Penn State.
