Safety Matthias Farley came to Las Vegas to have an impact.

And through one preseason game, with another looming on Sunday, and training camp, he’s already doing what head coach Josh McDaniels needs.

“Yeah, he plays hard,” McDaniels said. “He’s been this way – when you watch him on film, he’s been this way his whole career so competitive guy, can contribute in the kicking game, eager tackler.”

“He’s just coming up there and being aggressive. So like his physicality, good teammate, guy who knows what his job is, helps others. So I thought he came in there and competed at multiple roles.”

Farley signed as a free agent back in July.

Previously, he’d played for the Tennessee Titans in 2021 and enjoyed a productive season. He appeared in 17 games and tied for the team lead with 11 special teams tackles. Farley also added five tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 2021.

McDaniels loves what he sees from Farley as a special teams option. And he believes that when the time comes, he can make significant contributions. Until then, Farley is doing exactly what Las Vegas’ coaching staff needs him to do — play hard.
