The latest twist in 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges’ recruitment could mean that an option that was previously thought to be out of play could be back in play for the coveted recruit.

Earlier this month, Gabriel Georges’ uncle told On3 that the five-star recruit would be following through with his official visit to Georgia despite the Bulldogs already having a commitment from 2027 five-star running back Kemon Spell.

Plans changed, however, on Wednesday when news broke that Gabriel Georges had canceled his official visit to Georgia that was scheduled for this weekend.

“I just wanted to focus on other schools that fit what I’m looking for better,” said Gabriel Georges to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “Recruiting is a big decision, and I felt it was best to put my energy into the places where I see myself the most.”

The Tennessee Vols, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Ole Miss Rebels are the final three schools for Gabriel Georges (Tennessee and Ohio State, though, are the two teams clearly out in front).

Could David Gabriel Georges move his commitment date up?

Gabriel Georges is currently planning to announce his commitment on July 22.

His uncle told On3 — in the same interview where he said the visit to Georgia was still happening — that the July 22 commitment date is locked in and “won’t change.”

Now that the official visit to Georgia that Gabriel Georges’ uncle said was happening has been canceled, it has fans wondering if the commitment date could also be moved up (which had been speculated before the comments from Gabriel Georges’ uncle).

For now, the July 22 commitment date is still the plan. But Gabriel Georges, after canceling the visit to Georgia, is clearly willing to be flexible with his plans, so I don’t think we can rule out a surprise early commitment being in play for the Quebec native.
