The price to land the Tennessee Vols’ top recruiting target reportedly may not be nearly as high as expected
The Tennessee Volunteers are hoping to sign 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, but numerous other programs are also in the mix. The five-star running back could land a big NIL deal as a result.
The Tennessee Vols are competing with the Ohio State Buckeyes for 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, one of the most coveted recruits in the nation.
Some folks in college football have suggested that Gabriel Georges is the best recruit in the nation, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that he’s expected to receive a big payday from whichever school he signs with.
But just how much NIL money is Gabriel Georges expected to command as a five-star recruit?
Some have speculated that he’ll earn well north of $1 million as a true freshman, but a new report from On3 suggests the number won’t be quite that high.
On3’s Pete Nakos reported on Friday that Gabriel Georges is expected to receive a pay day in the “high six figures”.
Nakos, however, added that the deal could creep into the seven-figure range.
“Sources consider the 2027 running back class elite at the top with Georgia five-star commit Kemon Spell and uncommitted five-star David Gabriel Georges,” wrote Nakos. “Those deals are expected to crawl into the high six-figure range. Georges’ recruitment has turned into a race between Ohio State and Tennessee, and sources have said a seven-figure package is not out of the question.”
Tennessee intends to do what it takes to land David Gabriel Georges
Tennessee won’t be afraid to give Gabriel Georges a significant NIL deal.
VolQuest’s Austin Price, in fact, said this week on WNML’s Josh and Swain that Tennessee “intends to whatever they need to do” from a financial aspect to land the five-star running back.
“I think Tennessee intends to do whatever they need to do to land David Gabriel Georges in terms of the financial package,” said Price. “He’s really important to them. I think they intend to be a heavy player there. And so I think the want and the need — all of that matches up with Tennessee taking a big swing for DGG.”
It won’t be shocking if the final number is over a million for Gabriel Georges, but it sounds like it won’t be “well over” a million.
