If Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray wins the starting job, there will be a lot of people believing in his success. Some of that is going to be due to the infrastructure the Vikings have, with the likes of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison on the team. The other angle is going to be Murray’s talent. His ability as a passer is among the best in the NFL.

Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon highlighted Murray as an under-the-radar Most Valuable Player candidate

“That was Arizona. This is Minnesota, where he’ll have a superior offensive line and will be throwing to arguably the NFL’s best receiver in Justin Jefferson.

A new setting under Kevin O’Connell could enable the 2019 No. 1 overall pick to finally live up to his unique and considerable talent in his age-29 season.”

Kyler Murray dark horse to win MVP

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Murray is viewed so highly by the media. He was the first overall pick in 2019 by the Arizona Cardinals and is a dynamic player with the ball in his hands. He isn’t just dynamic with the ball in his hands as a passer, but is also great as a runner.

From a betting perspective, which is what Gagnon is going with here, Murray is +4000 per DraftKings Sportsbook. That is a really nice return if he ends up maximizing the ability he has. It was something that didn’t happen in Arizona, mainly due to less-than-ideal surroundings that seemingly got worse the longer he was there.

Going to Minnesota, he’s got about everything you can ask for, from an elite play caller to a solid offensive line and an elite group of weapons. It’s why so many are excited about what the Vikings can be.

There is still the elephant in the room with J.J. McCarthy. He has to win the quarterback battle, which could extend deep into training camp. O’Connell has made it clear that he wants to see them both in difficult situations.

If he wins the battle, Murray is going to be a top player to watch.
