Vikings interim GM Rob Brzezinski’s pre-draft comments raise a severe red flag ahead of the NFL Draft
The hope was that the Minnesota Vikings will improve their NFL Draft process, but comments from interim GM Rob Brzezinski raise severe questions.
There is only three days left until the NFL Draft, and the Minnesota Vikings have begun their offseason workouts.
One of the interesting elements with the Vikings is how they will end up improving their NFL Draft process. Under former general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, they struggled, selecting 28 players across four years, but only two selections on day two over the last three years. That was a major factor in why he ended up getting fired at the end of January.
Rob Brzezinski’s comments raise major questions
The Vikings need to improve that in a major way to make a Super Bowl run, but will they be able to make it happen? The latest comments from interim general manager Rob Brzezinski raise major concerns.
Yeah, you won’t see a lot of changes. Like, within the room, some of the responsibilities would be different, you know, obviously. But, by and large, you know, the setup will be the same.

Considering how poor the NFL Draft process was for the Vikings over the last few years, this is a major cause for concern.
The Vikings keeping everyone in their positions and the setup being the same tells us they believe only the decision maker was the problem. What happens if that’s not the case?
It’s not something that Vikings fans want to think about, but it should be discussed. The information is the same as it was last year. The scouting staff wasn’t changed, neither were other high-ranking executives, with Ryan Grigson and Brzezinski being among the top decision makers. With all of that data being the same, will Brzezinski at the top making the choices yield significantly better results?
Brzezinski seems to think so, and he doubled down on the idea at the NFL owners meetings.
“It’s been amazing. The alignment that we’re trying to create, and we are creating with the coaching staff and the personnel staff has been amazing so far. We have a very, very talented coaching staff. We have an extremely talented evaluation staff, [both] college and pro. We have such a great team of players. Everybody’s been stepping up, working together, organically. It’s been great so far.”

Will it come to fruition? Only time will tell, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on.
