Commanders land the missing ingredient that could take their offense from good to elite in a new mock draft
It's been an incredible year for the Washington Commanders, who have gone from having the second pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to one of the best teams in the NFL. That type of turnaround is thanks to the incredible work done by the new Commanders brass, led by general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. And, of course, their 2024 first-round pick, Jayden Daniels, is already playing like a top-ten quarterback in the NFL.
While their focus is completely on the 2024 season, where they have aspirations of playing deep into the playoffs and, who knows, maybe even for a Super Bowl, that doesn't mean we also shouldn't be thinking about what their biggest needs in the upcoming draft may be, even if they will be drafting near the end of the order for the first time in forever.
In a new first-round A to Z Sports mock draft, the Commanders landed a player who might just be the missing ingredient to take their offense from good to elite.
Commanders land Penn State TE Tyler Warren in a new mock draft
"The Commanders are not just the clear most improved team in the NFL. They are playing like one of the best teams in the NFL overall. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is the clear favorite for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and has drastically sped up the Commanders' future plans. I have them adding Tyler Warren to give Daniels a rookie TE to grow with in the NFL. We have seen this season at Penn State how dynamic Warren can be."
Daniels has elevated the Commanders' offense to heights no one could have even imagined in just his rookie season. So, I think they should double down on him and select a dynamic TE like Tyler Warren out of Penn State. There are very few game-changing TEs in the NFL, but the teams that have them are considered some of the league's best offenses. The Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens, the San Francisco 49ers, the Detroit Lions all elite offenses when healthy, and all have TEs that elevate their offense to those heights. Warren can be that for the Commanders and be the security blanket to take Daniels' game to the next level.
