When you think about the Georgia Bulldogs program under head coach Kirby Smart, the defensive line dominance gets brought up quickly. With names like Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt, Nazir Stackhouse, and Christian Miller having come through the program in recent years, the foundation and expectations have been set. That success doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.

In the 2026 recruiting class, one of the biggest targets, quite literally, is Dyke (Va.) Blue Ridge School defensive tackle Valdin Sone. The 6-3, 316-pound run stuffer has been one of the most highly sought-after defensive linemen in the class, possessing tremendous size, power, and upside.

Georgia has been battling against some other top programs for Sone, and they look like they could be the team to beat. Rivals recruiting analysts Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons have each logged in expert predictions on Wednesday for the Virginia native to end up with the Bulldogs.

Sone is considered a four-star recruit by each of the major recruiting platforms. 247Sports is especially high on Sone, currently ranking him as the No. 46 overall player and No. 4 defensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class. He also ranks as the No. 3 player in the state of Virginia, an area that the Bulldogs don't tap into a ton.

A long list of impressive suitors have continued to pursue Sone. Some of the top programs that have offered him include the Bulldogs, Alabama, LSU, Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida, Miami, USC, Penn State, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, Kentucky, Nebraska, UNC, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, and UCF among others.

Georgia has been on quite a tear on the recruiting trail recently, currently sitting with the No. 2 class on the Composite rankings. They currently hold commitments from five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, as well as top-100 players Ekene Ogboko, Kaiden Prothro, Jordan Smith, Justice Fitzpatrick, and Caden Harris. There are still several key targets that remain on the board, Sone included on that list.
